Photoshop CS4 Update is live

The first update for Photoshop CS4 is out and available at live!
The Adobe® Photoshop® CS4 11.0.1 update addresses a number of issues discovered after Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Photoshop CS4 Extended.
The most significant fixes in the Photoshop CS4 11.0.1 update include the following:
• A number of issues that could cause slow performance have been addressed.
• Pen barrel rotation with Wacom tablets now works correctly.
• Photoshop now correctly recognizes 3D textures edited by a plug-in.
• The quality of the results of Auto-Blend Layers (Stack Images) has been improved.
• A problem that could result in a crash when pasting formatted text has been fixed.
• A crash that could result from a corrupt font no longer occurs.
There is also a plug-in available which disable the canvas rotation using track pad on MacBook Air and recent MacBook Pro systems.

Adobe to open the RTMP Specs

Adobe has announced it will be opening up the RTMP spec! RTMP is designed for high-performance transmission of audio, video, and data between Adobe Flash Platform technologies viz, Flash Media Server, LiveCycle Data Services etc. Now developers will have open and free access to RTMP and this is a major milestone under the OpenScreen Project. Checkout the Press release and wait for the release.

Creating Custom Filters Using Adobe Pixel Bender

Today i was trying my luck with Pixel Bender, the new graphics processing engine supported by Adobe Flash Player 10,Adobe After Effects. (Hey it’s coming for Photoshop too!.. soon.) Pixel Bender allows you to create your own filters, blends, area fills, and line fills. Guess what? once you get a grip of pixel bender you will hardly return to available filters, rather you will create your own stunning filter effect! With the little time that i spent with pixel bender, it really impressed me.
Some Quick Points about Pixel Bender,
- Pixel Bender use a different language for programming, similar to C, but based on fragment shader languages.
- The effects that we create using pixel bender can be applied to any display object (eg: images,vector illustrations, video clips, yes i said video).
- Pixel Bender programs, called kernels, are written and compiled using the Adobe Pixel Bender Toolkit.
- The compiled bytecodes should be loaded into a shader object so that the Flash Player can render it. You can find the shader AS reference here.
