    Hi,
    I would like to know about exporting indesign document to dreamweaver in the same style as it is in the print design but i am getting all images on the top and all text at the bottom. can you help me.

    I was trying for epub from indesign but could not get i was getting all text and images. one after the other but not exactly as the indesign layout.

      Hello Prem,
      Unfortunately, Indesign cannot export the print layout design into exact web page layouts. When you use the Export XHTML for Dreamweaver option, the content gets optimized(images especially). Then you can open the same in Dreamweaver, which will show you the content without any layout details. You have to write your own CSS to layout the content that got exported from Indesign. I would suggest you to checkout the Flash Export options in Indesign CS4 which retains the content as well as layout in Flash format which can be used for web.

      Hello Srikanth,

      Sorry to disappoint you, but as of now, there is no way to change that message into something else. It is more of a security related thing and there is no choice. I am sure you have gone through various hacks, which disable the message in FF and IE.

    Hi Vyshak,

    In one of the seminar I saw Rajesh exported the indesign file to dreamweaver using a DIV or CSS can you kindly explain how to create a DIV or CSS as I do not belong to web but I have to do this.

      Hello Prem,

      Unfortunately Indesign can’t export print designs into DIV and CSS. This is because of the two extremely different platforms, print and web.ID can export a print design page into XHTML whch can be opened in DW along with the text and images optimized, but after that CSS/DIV design has to be done manually. In the Demo Rajesh would have specified that he has already done the design with CSS and it is available with him.

      You can export the Indesign file into XFL and open in flash Pro as it is. You may need to modify the designs once the pages/text comes to flash as keyframes.

    This is Vijay from Chennai. I have attend CS5 Road show in Park Sheraton at Chennai. Its nice tips and techniques provides by you was very useful.

    I need one one suggestion. Actually I moved Photoshop Channel between two files using Duplicate mask method. but i cant move path between two files. If I copy and paste path to other doc,then the path size will be reduced. otherwise I use Drag and Drop path to other file that path size only maintain.

    why you can create Duplicate path method..? like duplicate mask.

    Hi, I attended Adobe Seminar in HYD on Friday 28th. That was the first time I am attending to technical seminarLike this. I was a great experiece to see that much of Crowd with full fun and useful technical tips presented by you three guys. From now onwards I decided to go every event like this. OK . Its time to ask you a question.

    Can I use flash file for CSS in Adobe Flex (I mean just One big Sliced image for all buttons in a website like in HTML CSS). for all Flex componets.

      Hello Bhaskar, Good to know that you enjoyed a session. For Flash Builder 4, I would suggest going in the Flash Catalyst way. The skinning and component creation is so easy from PSD,AI and FW. Once created, you can import the fxp project in Flash Builder 4.

    i have one small doubt, in PS cs version i am unable apply different drop down shadow angles for different layers. If i change Drop down angle of one layer, it get changed for all layers.. any solution for this

      hey praveen, are you aware of the ‘use global light’ property? which actually controls the drop shadow angle within an entire document? Disable this option for having different drop shadow angles within a single document.

    Hi Vyshak,

    First of all, it was really an interesting session of the Web Training this morning in which I along with my staff members participated.

    I have two questions for you:

    1) What is the main difference between the Pro version versus the Extended version
    2) Can we enable printing facility in a PDF file for only one time. This means that once the user prints the document, he/she cannot reprint the same info once again.

    Your valuable help would be highly appreciate on this matter.

      Thanks a lot Ritesh. Answer follows,

      1) The major difference is that, Acrobat Pro Extended has got support for creating 3D PDF files and M&E users finds it very useful. Using APEX, you can convert any video file into PDF, but in AP, you can only insert FLV videos. Another difference is that, Acrobat Presenter License comes free with APEX 9! Please refer the product matrix for an extensive comparison matrix. http://bit.ly/dCCKMs

      2) Printing a file only one time has got some technical limitations, that is, upon firing the print command application pass control to OS and it then takes over with the print dialog. I can print only once but let say 20 copies at that time!. Using Adobe LiveCycle RightsManagement Server, you can catch a print event at the client and dynamically switch the policy to prevent further printing, but the purpose is defeated, because on the first print itself user can take ‘n’ copies.

    Hi Vyshak,

    Is there any way to restrict size of the image to be uploaded in PDF forms ??

    We require that users upload specific photograph in particular size (maybe in pixels) and send the pdf file with data / XML for uploading.

      Image specifics can’t be restricted, but the file size can be measured and you can trigger a JS event to remove a file if it is bigger than a specific value. Let me know if you need more info on the same.

    Hi Vyshak,
    I need your help desperately. Have taken up a E-commerce project and signed up with Yahoo small business. I intend to use Dreamweaver to design all pages. I have great difficulty in connecting to yahoo merchant solutions and even FTP connection is not going through. All the FTP settings are ok (as I have tested them on independent FTP programs). When checked up with Yahoo, they say its not a problem from their side and its something to do with Dreamweaver. Can you kindly suggest a solution to this. For now I have been using Yahoo Sitebuilder.

      Hello Sandeep,

      You can run CS4 in Windows 7 OS bus as you might be knowing they are not tested/designed for Win 7. That is why adobe doesn’t support those installations. CS5 is design and tested for Win 7 and they are supported by Adobe too.

    I have a problem with IE8 it doesn’t supports PNG semi transparent effect. Its working fine with firefox. Any fix to override this issue?

      It is a known issue with IE, you need to use conditional CSS tags for the IE family and display a GIF for those underprivileged browsers!

      What is the file format you are working with here? If it is a PDF (print ready) we can eliminate black using the ink manager in Acrobat. Let me know the details, i can post a demo of how to do it in Acrobat if you are interested.

    Hi Vyshak, Attended your RIA Conference held at Gurgaon. It was wonderful. :)

    I have been working with Flex since last one year and I love it. Recently I was looking on Adobe Livecycle Services (ES & LCDS) and found that it has been very much integrated with Flex technology.

    But I didn’t found, while googling, any player in Indian market who is playing in Livecycle services. :(
    No big Livecycle developer community as is for flex in India. Hope it would soon pick up in Indian market. :)

    hi, i recently bought cs5 web premium. i am trying to use repousse for getting 3d text in photoshop. but after typing the text the repousse link is not active. hence i cannot goto the 3d menu ans create 3d text. what do i have to do to get the menu active?

    At the RIA conference in Mumbai you had mentioned a Flex based Statistic websites which gives real time stats on Browsers in use, screen resolutions, monitors, etc. Basically everything that is needed by a developer/ designer.

    Is there a low cost version of CS available for people who want to learn and practise?

    Eg. A few years ago I had heard of Education version of Photoshop which came at 1/4th the cost. Are such product versions available? Coz a trial version that we download only lasts for 1 month or so…. but it can take quite some time to master a piece of software.

    Hi Vyshak,
    I wanted ask about the AMF concurrent calls to server through BlazeDs
    Suppose I hit 10 server calls ( a remote object with 10 operations ) then I see that flex/flash sends it one by one … I tried finding solutions over the net and landed onto two available answers:
    1. Create different RemoteObjects for each call.
    2. Exploit the Messaging service and make your server asynchronous.

    I tried both and both were satisfying . But I still wonder for the 1st solutions.

    1. Why just creating different remoteobjects makes it concurrent calls.
    2. Is it flex that batches the concurrent call or is it Flash
    3. Creating different RemoteObject is it a better solution.

      Answers inline,
      1. Why just creating different remoteobjects makes it concurrent calls.
      Different RO will have different mem space and event calls, hence multiple calls. I hope you are using Network monitor to track these calls and profilers to clear off the memory to avoid any memory leaks caused by multiple RO.
      2. Is it flex that batches the concurrent call or is it Flash
      The batch happens on its own and RPC’s are designed in that way. JMS and Queue is a better way i would say for a data intensive mutli call app.
      3. Creating different RemoteObject is it a better solution.
      It all depends on your app, calls made, data transferred, memory utilized etc, i would go for JMS queue or DMS for multiple asynch calls typically, and LCDS at the server side.

      The upload feature limits to the camera roll and not to other system/sd card files in AIR for Android.

    hi Vyshak,
    i had attended your RIA conference in gurgaon once,you had shown one application made for claiming the insurance of a damaged car.The application opens a text area at the particular location where we click on the image,inorder to describe the damage.Can i know how to recognize the clicks made on the image.(ex:clicks are made on banet,glass,doors etc… of a car)

      I have used image hit areas and custom button events for the same. These are custom components built on Flash and then imported as swc’s in the Flex project, as it was easier to do the designing in Flash.

    Hi Vyshak ,

    I wanted to use my Android as a Server and hence was trying to create a serversocket using the following lines of code.
    It works when I simulate a run on my desktop however when I deploy it on my Mobile it throws the error

    Error: Error #2002: Operation attempted on invalid socket

    Actually its unable to bind this socket to the address I provided.

    Code:

    var server:ServerSocket = new ServerSocket();
    server.addEventListener(Event.CONNECT,onConnect);
    server.bind(1234,”127.0.0.1″);
    server.listen();

    I tried creating a server socket thereafter using the java code ,it worked but what I really want is to connect my clients to serversocket based out on Flex.

    Let me know If you have any suggestions/workaround

    Note:I am using the latest hero SDK for this (i.e. developing a mobile application)

      Hello Ashar,

      Why don’t you try the bind operation only with the port number? also a try catch block would help around the bind and listen to identify the specific error, like the port being busy and/or net connection failure etc.
